A Message from Business Manager Chris Erikson Jr.
Summer weather is upon us quickly, and Local 3 is in full swing. On Saturday, Local 3 hosted “Family Day in the Park” in Hartsdale, New York, to celebrate former Local 3 President Dennis McSpedon. On Sunday, the Electchester community and affiliated clubs came together to host the annual Street Fair. Both events were well attended and featured games, rides, entertainment, music, great food, and refreshments. Most importantly, they went off without a hitch because of the volunteers who made them happen. Thanks to everyone who attended, with special gratitude for the members who stepped up.
Additionally, on Sunday, the Catholic Council of Electrical Workers hosted the 89th Annual Communion Mass and Breakfast in New York City. IBEW 2nd District Vice President Michael Monahan was recognized as the "Man of the Year," and Bishop Ed Whalen co-presided over the Mass and was the keynote speaker. Bishop Whalen currently serves as the Vicar General of the Archdiocese of New York, second leading cleric in the Archdiocese. Both men are true friends and allies of Local 3, and I congratulate the Catholic Council on another successful event.
There is always something going on in Local 3 outside of the workplace. This coming weekend, Local 3 is hosting the 81st IBEW Bowling Tournament, bringing hundreds of IBEW business managers and members to our city. Come down to JIB Lanes or Rockville Centre Lanes to root for our Local 3 bowlers. And on Saturday, June 13th, you can march alongside our sisters and brothers in the White Plains Juneteenth Parade and Festival.
A strong Union is an active Union, and in Local 3, there is always something you can do.

Election Day for the upcoming primary election is Tuesday, June 23rd, and early voting begins this Saturday. This is our chance to raise our voice and use our strength to elect Organized Labor's candidates in Congress and the New York State government. There are several key primaries, including Tom Suozzi in Congressional District 3, Grace Meng in Congressional District 6, Dan Goldman in Congressional District 10, and Jessica Ramos in State Senate District 13, but most critically is re-electing NYS Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. Tom is a longtime friend and ally of Local 3 and Organized Labor, and he's spent a lifetime in public service. Since 2007, he's been a steward of the public's money as Comptroller, fighting fraud, managing the State Pension Fund, providing oversight for our tax dollars, and always pushing for financial accountability. GOTV phone banks and labor walks will be taking place all over our jurisdiction for the next two weeks, so step up and give an hour or two where you can to ensure we are represented by Local 3's candidates in Congress and State government.
Finally, let's go Knicks!
